This Week’s Chapters: James 4 - 1 Peter 3
Pastor Claire Morton
Peter was a great encourager! He knew what it was like to face all kinds of trials, including being beaten and imprisoned. Yet still he continued to praise God!
He knew his position in Christ and that no person or circumstance could take that away. 1 Pet 2v9 says “… you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His (God’s) own special people.”
Wow – you are chosen – not a has-been or unwanted but chosen. Remember that horrible feeling at school when you’re the last to get picked for a sports team during P.E. Well, no more, because God chose you first.
Not only that. He calls you special – you are unique – you belong to Him.
Peter keeps going – you are a royal priest. You stand in the presence of the Almighty King and are called to minister to Him – what a privilege!
And there’s more – you are holy. You have been set apart for Him.
So why? Look at the second part of v9, “… that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Peter knew that his life was to be a testimony before the Gentiles of how merciful God had been to him (v10).
So lets make this week the beginning of a fresh decision to rejoice in all circumstances because no matter what God is worthy of praise.
I would love to hear which verse stands out to you as you breathe daily with God this week!

Pastor Claire
Thank you for pointing this out to all of us. I think we all need to adopt a peter on our shoulders so that we know and we know that we know that we ARE special and we ARE chosen and we ARE all unique and all have different gifts and abilities to bring to the throne of GOD!

Hi Pastor Claire,
I was really excited about reading what my bible notes said about 1 Peter 2:1-3. I dont know about other people but I sometimes struggle to understand what the bible is saying so I have to read it in a few versions and read the footnotes sometimes to find out what it is saying to me.
The footnotes said Genuine love for the brethren and eager desire for the word go together and result in spiritual growth. This really excited me as I want spiritual growth but I did not get the connection as to how this fitted with the verses so I read it in the amplified bible which said we should crave milk like new born babies. Have you ever herd a new born scream for milk! they dont stop until they get it. This is how we need to be for the word of God.
I have realised if I am truely hungry for Gods word and love my brothers and sisters then I will grow spiritually.
Looking forward to getting to church today to get the word and love my brethren. Have a good day.
Love
Jane Fern
Enjoying life
