This Week’s Chapters: 1 Cor 8 - 12

Have you ever tried to button your shirt with one hand? Try it! What about walking up the stairs with one foot? We can hop along on one level ok but going upstairs? That’s hard work!
Having recently had an operation that has meant I can’t lift heavy items during my recovery has made me so aware of how valuable my stomach muscles are but also how very reliant I am on my family. Not just my immediate family but my spiritual family i.e. you! Simple things like cooking and ironing became impossible overnight.
It would have been silly of me to think I could still do everything as normal and tried to muddle along without any help from anyone. However, this is exactly what we can be in danger of doing in church.
God has made us – WHBC – one body and as such each one of us is as valuable as each other. As pastors we cannot do without you – you are the hands and feet, the fingers and toes, the elbows and knees, even the stomach muscles (!) that make this church, this body work as God intended.
However, you are also here for each other. It’s so much easier to do a button up with two hands, to walk upstairs with two feet. Our eyes show our feet where it’s safe to walk. We need each other to be an effective, working body.
Don’t try to live out your walk alone – it’s hard: hook up with a covenant group, join a team and discover your potential, or simply talk to someone on Sunday morning. The devil may have convinced you that you are not valuable, that you are “just a spot on the end of the nose” but Christ says you are valuable, each person has a part, and when you are not around you are truly missed.
As pastors we are so grateful to each one of you for catching the vision and pressing forward to reach the goal that God has set for WHBC. Let’s run this race together and “run in such a way as to get the prize” (see Ch 9v24).

Claire, this is so valuable!! I just think how much easier things are when someone else is helping!! I dont even like doing things alone now. 
It is also so much more fun when others are helping. The amount of times we just start laughing at the silliest things. That makes those times so memorable! Love to all today!
