This Weeks Chapters: Colossians 3 – 1 Thessalonians 3
Pastor Alan Morton
Sometimes there are parts of the bible that we skip over normally such as Colossians 4 where Paul writes about all the various people who send greetings and are planning various works. But I love the fact that God wanted stuff like this in the bible. EVERY word is God inspired, there for our encouragement, correction and faith.
Col 4:7-18 is full of personal comments ...
Tychicus ... is a dear brother, a faithful minister
Onesimus ... our faithful and dear brother
Aristarchus, Mark & Justus ... sends his greeting
Epaphras ... a servant of Christ Jesus
Luke & Demas ... send greetings
All of this speaks of relationships!!
Real people, who Paul cared about. Real people, who also had invested in the individuals at the Colossian church. Real people that Paul knew the church still related to.
For each one of them Paul has something good to say. These are not just work colleagues but friends.
This theme is continued into the letter to the Thesselonian church.
"We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."
Relationships spark us to go further. Relationships produce fruit in our lives as we learn to care for people. Relationships make sacrifices worthwhile!
The church is not a social club but a group of people in real relationships, learning daily how to care, encourage and bless one another.
Here at WHBC how many do we truly know that we could really write these sorts of things about? I feel continually challenged about this as Pastor – to keep on building relationships!!
So the challenge to each one of us is the same – who do we know? How much true relationship do we have? How willing are we to go the extra distance in developing those relationships?
You are blessed!! So today who are you going to be a blessing to?
As Pastor Julie put so well last week – we need to be attached to others – our lives depend upon it!!

- Julie What a great PASTOR!!! Relationships, relationships!!! Thats nice!
- Karen W I love these passages, where Paul encourages people by name. God is interested in the smallest details of our lives, and in all of our relationships with each other. It's good to be getting to know people better in WHBC. Sounds corny, but it is a big family and that's how church should be. This is where we live out our faith in practice.

Love and blessings to all our pastors for setting an example to us in their relationships.
