Apart from the obvious analogy of staying faithful, what else can we draw from this?
• Wisdom is active, it takes a stand; Folly is passive, lazy, sitting waiting for whatever (whoever) comes along. How do you live your life? Do you grasp every opportunity laid before you? Are you actively seeking God’s Will in your life? Or are you “sitting” and waiting for whatever may come along.
• Wisdom is not ashamed of her actions, she is quite happy to share them at the city gates but Folly doesn’t move from her doorway.
• Wisdom is being free to share your opinions, ideas and thoughts with others while allowing yourself to be corrected when wrong, being teachable and growing in knowledge and understanding daily.
• Folly is thinking you have all the answers and that people should come to you.
It seems that the beginning of Proverbs compares these two walks of life to highlight the choices we make as we read the rest of Proverbs. It gets us thinking about our own lives and the choices we make on a daily basis.
Wisdom calls out to everyone but Folly is looking for those who lack sense.
The Holy Spirit is speaking to us every day, showing us the way of wisdom and we have a choice whether to be obedient or not. If we deliberately disobey, we stray onto the path of Folly and we can be led astray.
Chapter 9:10 says “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”, so let’s listen to the voice of wisdom that is calling out to us today.

Breathing Daily with God is an opportunity for the Pastors to share their thoughts on the chapters we have been reading in our daily bible reading plan.Email this to a friend | Add A Comment | Bookmark | Subscribe

- karen S I have read through proverbs many times before but never have I been more inspired, provoked and blessed by God than now. Maybe it's because before I wasn't ready to receive Gods correction, moulding and shaping because of attitudes, lack of understanding etc.
I think at times I have strayed on to the path of folly thinking I can do all things with out Gods intervention, leading but PTL! One has finally submitted/surrendered to the will of God because I know it goes well for me when I am obedient to the voice/direction of the Lord.
Thank you to the Pastors for their Godly wisdom that they impart to us as they gain wisdom from the Lord.
