Proverbs contains so many promises starting with 1:1 “for attaining wisdom and discipline ... insight ... prudence ...”.
I often read through Proverbs reading a chapter a day as I’ve found it releases wisdom in me. Taking the chapter that matches the day (i.e. chapter 11 on the 11th day of the month) and meditating on the promises, warnings and ideas over the years has been a constant source of encouragement and faith.
For January and February I want to encourage us to read through the whole of Proverbs, twice!!
Wisdom can either be received through bitter experience, learning from the trials, problems and mistakes we make or through impartation. Impartation is the easier way!! We can learn from other people’s experiences and avoid the traps and errors, rather than repeating their mistakes.
Learning from the Lord is even better because we are learning from the One who never makes mistakes!! Everything He does and plans actually works first time!! This is the difference between the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil (reason) and the Tree of Life (revelation). God always knows what we need.
Reading through Proverbs I find myself thinking through problems and puzzles from different perspectives. Ideas seem to come more readily. Wisdom (the voice of the Lord) seems to be so much easier to hear.
I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas and revelations. What has God impressed on you as we read together through these scriptures and how did Jesus use these scriptures to change your life in practical ways?

Breathing Daily with God is an opportunity for the Pastors to share their thoughts on the chapters we have been reading in our daily bible reading plan.Email this to a friend | Add A Comment | Bookmark | Subscribe

- Karen S Thank you for your thoughts on this. 2009 was a very challenging year for me in many ways and one I have no desire to repeat. I have set a goal to also read through proverbs also Ecclesiates. Because I believe they are full of wisdom and truth from the Lord for excellent teaching of what it means to be a godly person.Prov 12:1 To learn, you must love discipline,it is stupid to hate correction.(I don't want to be a stupid person)It takes effort which sometimes is hard but prov 12:11 Hard work means prosperity;only fools idle away their time.(I desire to prosper) This year I want to experience what it truly means to be a Godly woman, mother, sister, friend, neighbour etc. Thank you Father God for establishing Pastors Alan/Claire as Godly leaders and examples in our church family.
