This Weeks Chapters: Matthew 20 -25
Pastor Alan Morton
My daughter Rebecca is sometimes referred to by Claire & I as the “persistent widow”. When she asks for things or for permission to do something, she stays active in her asking until she gets what she wants … or a reaction!
Matt 20 v29-34 has the great story of two blind men who were so persistent in chasing after Jesus that they got their miracle … their sight back!
They heard that Jesus was around and went to meet him, but with the size of the crowds it was not possible to get close so they started calling out. That sparked a reaction from the people around who tried to quieten them, but instead of being quietened these two men shouted even more.
Their desperation drove them! Their need was so acute that no-one and nothing was going to get in the way of them receiving their miracle. The result? They got what they wanted!
We have the same opportunity every day to see the miracles we need. Our Lord is the same today as He was back when He was walking around on the earth. In the middle of all the busyness He can hear the cries of the persistent. How determined are we to get our answers?
In Luke 11 v9 Jesus says “Ask … seek … knock … it will be given to you”. The asking is a continuous thing. Not faithless but persistent, active pressing in to receive what we need. A determination to not give up until we get our answer. Knowing that we have what we asked for.
We can’t let opposition from others around us put us off!
We can’t let the number of people around us with similar needs put us off!
We can’t let our history affect our future!
When you stand to pray today be persistent, full of expectancy, your answer is on the way!

- Richard Very clever of Jane to think of using this blog to advertise a meeting. Good stuff. Reminds me to ask if WHBC's Twitter is still going... Michael? If maybe an ongoing message-board blog would be feasible for practical needs/suggestions/adverts ?
- Karen S God is all seeing and hearing and knowing, waiting for the one to be bold, speaking out, pushing through the obsticles be it people or situations. Breaking down the barriers, situations that hold them back. How desperate or determined are we to get the answers we need for our lives/situations? and of others. I know I am. Excellent word Pastor Alan.
