Persistence - to continue firmly or obstinately! (Oxford Dictionary)
You know, God hasn’t called us to be half-hearted or weak-willed. Meekness does not equal weakness! He asks us to persist.
I love the parable of The Persistent Widow because it reminds me constantly to never give up, to never stop believing that what God has promised He will fulfil, that if I ask anything in prayer and believe in my heart that it is mine, I will receive it.
We have nicknamed one of our children ‘the persistent widow’ (and if you are reading this you know who you are!) because if there is something she wants, she will continue to ask for it. She won’t take ‘no’ for an answer if she knows it could always be a possibility and continues to ask, sometimes in very subtle ways – she knows her end goal and persists until we either give in, or we have to very firmly say ‘no!’.
God wants to hear us cry out. Look at verse 7 “… will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly … “
We know God loves to answer our prayers but sometimes He is looking for that persistence in our hearts. Never give up praying for salvation for your unsaved friends and family. I heard a story about a woman who prayed for her husband faithfully every day for 40 years and a week before he died he came to Christ. Some may say why did it take so long but this widow rejoiced because she finally saw the answer to the cry of her heart.
Have you given up on asking God? The Persistent Widow kept knocking because she knew the judge would finally help her. God is already your help, so cry out to Him today.

thank you so much for that claire...so encouraging....i had just been talking to God about something which is an ongoing thing for me and should i give up and accept that it ain’t going to happen and then i read what you had to say and i think i have my answer....have a great week and God bless Win x
