This Weeks Chapters: Hebrews 2-6
Pastor Matt Beemer
As you know, the last Sunday in May I began a three part series called ‘Let’s Go’. On the first Sunday I heard myself saying, Let’s Go together, or not at all’. When I said that I knew exactly what the Lord was referring to, the children of Israel and their going into their promised land.
Our readings this week speaks of the children of Israel and how they, because of ‘an evil heart of unbelief’, did not enter into the Promised Land. As a result an entire generation had to die in the wilderness before Israel could enter into what God had planned for them all along.
Paul was writing this to Hebrew Christians who were tempted to turn their backs on God because of the persecution they were receiving at the time. Things were tough! They couldn’t get jobs, they couldn’t buy food, or do business – and it had nothing to do with the economy, it was because they made Jesus their Lord! Some were tempted to turn their backs on Jesus in order to make life easier, and the entire book of Hebrews is God’s attempt to help these Christian Jews stay the course.
In doing so He reminds them of how an entire generation didn’t receive God’s best, but rather died in the desert, and the reason He gives… ‘So we see that they could not enter in because of their unbelief’ (3v.19). They had looked at the circumstances and said it is impossible, complained, felt sorry for themselves and then said, let’s go back to the way we had it before – it was better to be a slave in Egypt!
Personal Application: As you read Hebrews think about the promises that God has given you in His Word and then choose to believe them. Refuse to allow circumstances to dictate your life.
Corporate Application: Last week we officially commissioned Pastor Alan and Claire Morton as our new Senior Pastors! We are so excited about this! Doing so enables Pastor Julie and I to step into the second phase of our missionary calling and in order for the ‘Let’s Go’ vision to be a success we all must look with the eyes of faith, believing that what God has spoken will come to pass! Let’s Go Together!!!
Confession: I will enter into all that Jesus has provided for my life personally! I will not draw back, or look at the circumstances and say it cannot be done. I believe God’s Word and know it will come to pass in my life just as He has said!
In the same way, I know that World Harvest Bible Church will fulfill all that God has purposed for it. As we enter into a new phase of this ministries’ destiny, we speak over WHBC that we shall enter into our ‘promised land’ together!

Breathing Daily with God is an opportunity for the Pastors to share their thoughts on the chapters we have been reading in our daily bible reading plan.Email this to a friend | Add A Comment | Bookmark | Subscribe
