To a people in rebellion, doing their own thing, setting their own version
of morality (much like today) God brought correction through his prophet.
That warning came with encouraging promises of reconciliation.
Isaiah 1 v18 Come now, let us reason together... if you are willing and
obedient
Today this same cry comes from the Lord to people everywhere ... through
us! The gospel is both a warning and an encouragement ... a sword
(destruction) is coming! Don't get caught on the wrong side!
God's heart for us comes through again and again ... the Branch of the
Lord will be beautiful and glorious (Isaiah 4 v2). The promise of
washing away the filth and bloodstains and the promise of being led by the
Lord in clear ways cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by
night (Isaiah 4 v5) speak of an attitude of love that is constant and
unchanging.
As we read through these passages allow God to show you his love and
compassion, his heart for you. Hear his voice in your heart speaking
words of encouragement ... and direction.
Jesus said My sheep know my voice (John 10 v27) as we read through these
scriptures we can have the boldness to expect Jesus to speak to us today
concerning events around us. The scripture that he brings to our minds as
we pray at the start of the day is often formative of the day. Whether
they are words of peace or strength or warning against sin.
Isaiah is incredibly prophetic. Expect a clarity of hearing the NOW
word of God for the day as you read these passages. What you expect and
ask for, you will get!!
Thanks
Alan

- Martin K Thank you so much, Pastor Alan. I am equally convinced that God wants to speak more to us than we realise, through all circumstances. He communicates to us simultaneously in lots of ways, almost like colours of the rainbow make up white light. Through the written Word each morning, praying in our own language and in tongues, direct to our hearts and then through prophetic encouragement from others in corroboration of this. When we are in deep trouble He knows how to get our attention. I don't believe anyone can truly say God is not speaking to them. Jesus' love is utterly relentless towards us, far more powerful than Niagara Falls. As Pastor Mathew shared only yesterday, how Jesus as the lover of our Souls longs to spend quality, intimate time alone with just us. This He does for all of us, equally, irrespective of our calling and ministry function. What a great God we have, what an amazing Saviour! How wonderful His Holy Spirit within us. Let's continue to bless and champion our leaders at all times through this blog; it's an amazing tool for our edification. Love and encouragement all, Martin K.
- Karen S Trust ya rested well after your journey PA. Excellent comments on this weeks reading too from yourself and MK. I am enjoying reading through Isaiah even though I'm finding some of it hard to grasp, one is pressing through regardless. I know what I am asking/expecting from the Lord and I am assured he will bring those things forth in due season. Blessings to our Pastors.
