This Week’s Chapters: Matthew 1 - 5
Pastor Claire Morton
At this time of year, most of us are trying to decide whether or not to make a New Year Resolution. It is a great opportunity to prioritise and to set goals for your life. I also use this time to ask myself, “Am I where God wants me to be and am I doing what He is asking me to do?”
The Beatitudes in Matt 5 is a good place to start, especially v 9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God”. Logic tells me that if I am a son of God then I must be a peacemaker. So what is a peacemaker?
Well, a peacemaker is not a peacekeeper! A peacekeeper keeps two warring parties apart either by force or by avoiding confrontation. The police are peacekeepers.
A peacemaker is a person who is prepared to make peace whether they are the party at fault or not. That sounds difficult if you are the one who has been offended but it is amazing how God honours those who are prepared to make peace. James 3v18 says “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness” – there is a reward for you.
When Alan and I first had revelation on this, Alan determined in his heart that no matter what disagreements we had, as head of the home, he would always make peace. This is not for wimps! Sure enough, even when I was wrong, Alan would still come and say sorry for us disagreeing. Now, girls, we know when we are wrong and when Alan would do this it made me feel even worse and repentance on my side soon followed.
The result is a peaceful home – where no-one is trying to get one better over the other but each one has determined to make peace the ruler of the home.
My prayer for you this year is that you will be a peacemaker and whether you decide on a New Year Resolution, set your priorities or goals, also consider determining in your heart that you will be a peacemaker and thus raise a harvest of righteousness.

Great message Claire!!! You know when we as adults make the decision to be peacemakers it even effects the health of our families especially our children. Strife gives the enemy a door inviting him right in. I dont want him anywhere near my home. It pays to be peacemakers!

Beautiful word dear Pastor Claire. To be a peacemaker is a wonderful opportunity to show forth the love of God and touch those who do not know Jesus and His peace.
We are so blessed with His peace, so beautifully we can show and bring peace to all situations, calming all troubles hearts with His love.
Bless you.
