“Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not lover their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
Whatever your belief in pre-tribulation or post-tribulation, the fact still remains that the devil’s time is short but we have been given the full authority of Christ.
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb – By the death of Jesus and the victory He won on the cross, we have become overcomers. Therefore nothing can stand in the way of us fulfilling God’s destiny for our lives.
By the Word of our testimony – Your testimony is powerful. I used to think that I didn’t have a great testimony – I wasn’t saved out of drugs or a broken home, I didn’t get into fights, I wasn’t mistreated. One day I saw how a minister introduced his wife and he said “This is my wife and she has the best testimony anyone could have, she has lived with Jesus her whole life”. Suddenly, I realised that my testimony is just as powerful as anyone else’s because it is my testimony. Daily I have testimonies to bring of God’s goodness and provision, his power and his strength in my life – and so do you. I was once challenged by a Jehovah’s Witness in the street over whether I was going to heaven or not and I responded by saying that I am already in His kingdom and that my God had healed me that week. Our testimony overcomes the lies of the enemy.
They do not love their lives so much as to shrink from death – Death could be taken as sin and anything that pertains to death. That as Christians we have laid down our lives and have chosen to be obedient to God’s will in our lives. However, I very much feel that this scripture is to be taken literally – are you prepared to die for what you believe? Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ across this World face persecution and hardship because they will not deny the One who gives them such freedom and peace even in the face of opposition.
We are free to celebrate Christmas – we can sing carols in a shopping centre, we openly send presents and cards and enjoy being together as a family. However, many are unable.
This week, take time to pray for our whole family across the World, especially those who do not shrink from death.

- Karen S Thank you Pastor Claire for this message. No matter what backgrounds/lifestyles we came from when we got saved what matters is that God has a plan & purpose for our lives to bring Jesus to others. He is the one who sets us in the right place @ the right time. As long as we have breath in our bodies and the Fathers heart, then we have a testimony of Jesus. We love and support you & Pastor Alan in the great commission for Jesus.
- Cath E Ps Claire, you are blessed to be a blessing. I think that to have known Jesus all your life is a wonderful testimony, not like some of us who have have a definite "after Christ & before Christ" testimony, even though it sounds amazing and is a radical change in ones life, it would have been best not to have suffered in the first place or more importantly made others suffer through it. But then you see God's grace in all the areas of your life and the testimony - so I am sure that those who are persecuted in other lands and do not live in the freedom we have, have a wonderful testimony as well, God bless them.
- meshack B God bless you Pastor Claire, thank you very much for sharing your testimony - I think that it is the best testimony. Just by having that previlege of knowing Jesus from your childwood is the best experience any person should pray for, especially over their children. As christians we should not be ashamed to tell the people around us about Jesus. I have discovered that some people would like to please the world by not talking about Jesus thinking that they will lose their Friends or Family members if they talk about Jesus. I understand what this can do to some people, I was reading in the paper about this Christian teacher who prayed for a student and it cost her, her job. It is sad but I think that we should stand firm. Let Christians show the world especially this Christmas season that Jesus is the best gift of all.
