Acts 10:44 (NIV)
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
When Matt and I first moved to England we FROZE!! My mum would feel sorry for us (from her home in the Arizona desert) and so she made us big fluffy quilts! They always came in handy during those bone-chilling English winter nights… and some summer nights too!.
In sewing, patterns are very important. In order to do a proper job a seamstress will normally use a pattern to guide her way to a beautiful finished product. Imagine what the end result would be if a seamstress tried to sow a complicated dress without using a pattern.
Even the most accomplished seamstress continue to use patterns for their sowing. Patterns are necessary to get the results they are looking for!
In order to see God’s Power in your life, in the Bible we see a pattern that we must live by. Notice in the above verse how Peter was SPEAKING before the Holy Spirit showed up! It is no different today. Sometimes we are wanting the Holy Spirit to show up, but we are not speaking!
Throughout the Bible we see this pattern again and again. We see that when we speak the Word, the Holy Spirit shows up!
As I’m writing, I’m reminded of other times when we see this pattern in God’s Word. Why not leave a comment telling me of other times in God’s Word where you see this ‘Pattern for Power’.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Are you living your life according to God’s ‘Pattern for Power’?

Breathing Daily with God is an opportunity for the Pastors to share their thoughts on the chapters we have been reading in our daily bible reading plan.Email this to a friend | Add A Comment | Bookmark | Subscribe

- Dawn Grieve Throughout the bible another pattern is that of 'Praise and Worship'. When we worship & praise the Lord, even in times of trouble or conflict, His power manifests! We can see an example in this in 2 Chronicles 20, when King Jehoshaphat came up against the moabites. the Lord told him he would not need to fight in this battle. Verse 18 ''Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head and his face to the ground, and all Judah & the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, 'Worshipping' the Lord, and the Levites of the Kohathites and the Korathites stood up to 'Praise'the Lord with a very loud voice''....and surely enough God's power manifested and the battle was won.
- Julie Beemer WOW DAWN!! I love it!! This is a terrific example!!!
- John R Hi Julie, how about the pattern/principle of "Sowing and Reaping", this has an application to every area of our lives from relationships (do unto others as you would have them do to you) right through to finances. As the scriptures say:
- Mattias Thanks so much Pastor Julie for this great and very helpful word! Another example of "Pattern for Power" is the connection between faith and love. Faith comes with amazing power - faith in God to heal, to answer prayers, to perform miracles, to move mountains, etc, etc. Praise God for this! However, throughout the Bible we see that faith and love are strongly connected (when doing a search for these two words in an online Bible many familiar passages appear). It seems clear that without love there is no powerful faith, and nothing says it better than His Word:
- Julie Thanks to all for your amazing comments. Isnt it amazing how 1 book can be so filled with wisdom and examples for our entire life!!! The Word is so rich!! Love to all and see you June 16!!!
- karen S If we ever only read 1 book in our entire lifetime let it be the bible. God has it covered every issue, situation there is an answer to it.It is our Manna. Food for thought there folks!

"Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." - Luke 6:37-38
and of course "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7). God has placed the ball well and truly in our court with this one d;O)

"...faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love." (Galatians 5:6b, Amplified Bible) - faith works through love!
