This Weeks Chapters: John 18 - Acts 1
Pastor Matt Beemer
…He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; 5 "for John truly baptised with water, but you shall be baptised with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." (Acts 1:4-5)
If someone commands you to receive a promise, you know that the promise is yours!
But the Bible says clearly He commanded them to ‘Wait for the Promise’. I can hear the disciples’ thoughts, ‘What does he mean?’, ‘What is The Promise?’ Like little children whose father goes away on a business trip, and before leaving promises to bring them back a gift; the disciples must have been continually thinking about, and eagerly expecting The Promise Jesus spoke of.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:4)
Wow! What a Promise it was too! He gave them such power, such boldness, such refreshing! Peter now understood what Jesus meant by ‘The Promise’. He understood the power Jesus had told them about (Acts 1:8). He understood why they were to wait for ‘The Promise’ before going to the world.
A new and improved Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit and boldness, preached to all the Jews who gathered on that day. His message touched their hearts and they asked, "What shall we do?" (Acts 2:37) What was Peter’s reply?
He told them about The Promise! "Repent, and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 "For The Promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off… "(Acts 2:38-39)
Peter says that the Spirit Baptism ‘is for all who are afar off’. That includes YOU! If you are not baptised with the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues, study the book of Acts and having done so, ask God for the same ‘Promise’ that Peter told all others to receive. As you do, remember, "...All the Promises of God in Him (in Jesus) are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Bless you dear Pastor Matt. Cannot add anything to that. Straight to the point. I am encouraged daily as I read the Word as to the life giving, supernatural change making that He gives us, is to benefit and bless us so that we too may imput to others. Every promise is to those who will believe. Come Holy Spirit come and saturate this earth more and more in power and majesty. What an awesome priviledge to serve a Lord who loves us so much that He just wants the very best for us.
Glory and honour to You sweet Saviour.
Bless you dear Pastor Matt.

WOW! What a word at such perfect timing Pastor Matt!
When we learn we get so excited that we want to go and do things there and then, by ourselves rather than waiting for GODs promise.
If we just wait until the right time by GODs timing, it makes a huge difference and we do it in the annointing of God!
His signs and wonders just amaze me - he such an amazing Father! I am just in awe at all that he does for us! Thank you Jesus, Thank you ABBA Father.

Thank you Pastor Matt for the word and topic you chose.
For some of us sometimes waiting on the Word and promise of God is the challenge. We want things done fast, here and now and when things look like they’re getting out of hand, we start making way for the panic button,( maybe just me)
But i’m glad He’s Faithful and shows up IN time! If He said it, He’ll do it right?
You also put a line under command and promise, which means it’s an order from the Lord for us to wait on Him no matter what, and it’s a thrill to know the one making the promise is not a man who’s limited, He’s never lied and can’t lie, and He’s even exalted His word above His Name.
It’s great to know He’s made ALL the provision we need if we obey, trust and wait on Him…
Thank you Pastor!
