Get Ready

Before any big event in our lives, we get ready. From the first day at school to the first day of a new job, from the school prom to the wedding day, from competing in a race to
handing over the baton, we get ready.

If we want to succeed well, if we want to look good, if we want to be the best, we take time to prepare and we get ready.

In the Book of Esther we read of the year long beauty preparations that Esther undertook before she was ready to enter the king’s presence. Ladies can you imagine spending a whole year just making yourself smell and look gorgeous for your man; men can you imagine how stunning she must have been.

However, what I love about her is that when she went into his presence she could have chosen anything she wanted from the kings treasuries: the ornate jewellery, the luxurious fabrics, but instead she sought the wisdom of the eunuch in charge of the harem, one who would know the king’s preferences. She laid down her own desires and chose the king’s desires.

Destiny 2011 is nearly here, a big event in WHBC’s calendar, a time when we will encounter the King of kings. Are you ready? Here are 3 questions to help you prepare.

Are you a sweet aroma to the Lord?

Ephesians 5:2 commands us to walk in love as Christ did. His sacrifice was a sweet smelling aroma to the Lord. If there is any unforgiveness in your heart or hatred towards others,
repent and ask God for a fresh baptism of His love to love others.

Are you clothed in good deeds and your own works but lack faith?

Esther could have chosen anything to wear but instead she put her faith in someone who knew the king. The only way to the Father is through the Son. No matter how many good deeds you do these are of no use unless you have accepted that Jesus died for you and has paid the price on the cross. However, it is so easy to get back into good works if we don’t continue to seek first God’s kingdom.

Have you laid down your own desires ready to take up your King’s desires?

After a year of preparations, Esther’s sole desire was to please the king, to fulfil his desires. As you prepare for Destiny, take time to stop and think about your motives. We read in 1 Sam 16:7 that God looks at the heart, in the New Living Translation it says God looks at a person’s thoughts and intentions. Lay down your own desires and let God give you His desires for your destiny.

I truly believe that this Destiny is a pivotal point in the history of WHBC and I would urge you to come ready to encounter your King.
